The Coat of Arms of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Athens
The Coat of Arms of the Provincial Grand Lodge of Athens is rich in symbolism, divided into two main and distinct parts, left and right.
On the left side, it depicts the three principal orders of ancient Greek architecture. The Doric order, symbolizing strength, simplicity, and bravery; the Corinthian order, representing perfection, beauty, and artistic expression; and the Ionic order, standing for wisdom, elegance, and grace. These adorn the left section of the coat of arms on a white background, which symbolizes peace, harmony, and light. Among these is only the Square and Compasses, the symbols of Freemasonry, with the letter G at the center, representing the Great Architect of the Universe. The golden color of the letter symbolizes prestige, divine energy, and optimism.
On the right side, there is an owl, an ancient symbol of Athens and its cultural heritage, holding an olive branch, the global symbol of peace. The blue background signifies stability, spirituality, and freedom. A laurel wreath, adorning this section, is a symbol of victory, honor, and eternity—achievable only through proper preparation and effort.
Lastly, the purple color chosen for the coat of arms represents respect, spirituality, and creativity.

Our Masonic heritage is invaluable and represents not only a privilege but also a conscientious duty to preserve it, so that we may pass it on intact to future generations.
The Provincial Grand Lodge of Athens, as the custodian of the Constitution of the National Grand Lodge of Greece, works tirelessly to ensure the smooth operation of the 31 Craft Lodges in its jurisdiction and the preservation of Masonic traditions.
The Provincial Grand Secretary plays a central role in ensuring continuous communication with the Secretaries of the Craft Lodges, undertaking the official responsibility of transmitting and receiving all Masonic matters and activities.
The Annual Grand Assembly of the Provincial Grand Lodge is the most significant event, where the review and evaluation of the past year’s work take place, and based on these, the Grand Officers are appointed.
Our primary mission remains the unwavering support of the Grand Master’s work of the National Grand Lodge for the Craft Lodges in the Athens region.
